President Viktor Yushchenko on Thursday received British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s reply to his letter with congratulation on Brown’s election to the Prime Minister’s post.
As President’s press office reports, Brown expresses hopes the two countrieswill continue the developmentof their partnership. According to him, United Kingdom supports Ukraine in joining the European Union, commending Ukraine for implementing the Ukraine-EU Action Plan and promoting democracy and press freedom. Ukraine’s “progress in the implementation of its ambitious program of reforms” will help build closer ties with the EU.
The Prime Minister thinks Ukraine may one day become a full member of the European Union.
