President Viktor Yushchenko on Tuesday met with Wilfried Martens, President of the European People’s Party, president's press service reports.
Yushchenko said preparations for an early parliamentary election on September 30 were underway and expressed confidence the poll would be a “reliable medicine against splits and disagreements.”
The President thanked the EPP leader for supporting the country’s snap elections.
Martens said Yushchenko’s decision to dissolve parliament and call a fresh poll was right and added that he was impressed by his stamina and firmness.
