Ukraine and Syria discussed questions of deepening their trade and economic cooperation during the 4th round of Ukrainian-Syrian political consultations in Damascus, Cabinet's press office reported.
In the course of the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Syria, its head, Deputy Foreign Minister Yuriy Kostenko met with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Abdelfattah Amor and held talks on a broad range of bilateral issues. In particular, the parties discussed ways of deepening trade and economic cooperation, restructuring their current agreement and legal base as well as expanding cultural and humanitarian ties. The sides exchanged their views on the developments in the Middle East, in particular Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine.
In the course of negotiations, an agreement was reached to hold the next round of Ukrainian-Syrian political consultations in Kyiv in 2008.
