President Viktor Yushchenko on Sunday held talks with Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

They discussed Ukraine’s EU integration. Yushchenko said he was satisfied with talks to sign an enhanced cooperation agreement between Ukraine and the EU, thanking German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her support and expressing hopes the agreement would be signed at this year’s Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv.

Steinmeier said Germany would continue to work hard to make these talks successful.

They also spoke about recent developments in Ukraine and the region’s frozen conflicts.

The minister thanked the president for attending today’s ceremony to open a museum in the Flossenburg Memorial Complex.
In scope of his visit Presidentand his family on Sunday visited the Bavarian town of Ludwigsfeld near Munich to see one of the barracks of the Dachau concentration camp, where First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko’s parents had worked during World War II.
Opened in 1933, the Dachau concentration camp was the first regular concentration camp established by the Nazi government.
