According to the information, received from the Embassy of the United Kingdom of the Great Britain and the Northern Ireland, in Ukraine the procedure of collection of biometric data from all visa applicants will be introduced starting from August 2. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

According to the report, the collected data will be stored in a database in the Great Britain in compliance with the Law on data security from 1998.The data will not be stored in the country where they were assigned or any other state.

Visa applicants in Ukraine must give their biometric data during the visa obtaining to the UK; visa applicants must provide their fingertips scanned and a digital photograph. The British Embassy will use services of VFS Global in Kyiv for the necessary procedures. The company will give a visa application to the Embassy. The embassy officers will further examine the case and decide on visa issuance or denial. No additional fee will be charged for this service.

According to the chapter 8 of Immigration Law of the United Kingdom from 1972, Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, official delegations, high-ranking officials and children aged under 5 do not have to pass the procedure of collection of biometric data.
