President held telephone conversation with Canadian foreign minister

President Viktor Yushchenko on Wednesday spoke by phone with Canada’s Foreign Minister Peter MacKay, president's press office reported.

Yushchenko invited Canadian election observers to Ukraine and thanked MacKay for supporting Ukraine’s democratic transformations and for his contribution to the development of Ukrainian-Canadian relations.

The President praised Canada for its respect for the Holodomor victims, urging it to support Ukraine’s resolution to recognize the Great Famine of 1932-1933 as genocide at the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly.
