The State Department of Veterinary Medicine has begun field trials of vaccines against highly pathogenic bird flu that were produced in Ukraine, the ForUm's correspondnet informs.
OnJuly 10, 2007, the veterinary services started vaccinating birds in two villages of Kherson region – Vasylivka and Novopokrovka. The vaccines were developed by native producers: the Institute of Experimental Clinical Veterinary, Ukrzoovetprompostach corporation, according to the state veterinary department press service.
At first the vaccines were tested in the laboratory.
According to veterinary department, the tests are conducted because of preliminary study of the epizootic situation in the two villages and neighboring water bodies through examination of domestic, synanthropic and wild birds.
Vaccinized birds are under control of state service of Veterinary Medicine.
As a reminder, the latest outburst of bird flu in Ukraine was registered in June 2006 in Piksy village (Buryn district, Sumy region).
