Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Portugal to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pessanha Viegas noted that negotiations between Ukraine and European Union concerning new enhanced agreement are being held normally and now new rounds of negotiation are foreseen in Brussels in October and in Kyiv in December 2007. It is said in the letter of the ambassador.
The letter also has that “the fourth round of negotiations concerning new enhanced agreement between Ukraine and the EU took place in Kyiv on July 2-4 in atmosphere of good understanding of both sides. Significant progress in negotiations was achieved.”
Moreover, Viegas noted “Negotiations concerning signing of agreement on free trade between the EU and Ukraine is expected very soon, up to the end of 2007. It will depend on accession to the WTO that may be take place in October 2007.”
As a reminder on March 5 Ukraine and the EU started negotiations on new enhanced agreement on partnership and cooperation that must replace the previous one that expires in early 2008.
