President Viktor Yushchenko on Thursday met with the chairman-in-office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Spain’s foreign minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, President’s press office reports.

Yushchenko thanked the OSCE for its active efforts to monitor Ukraine’s early parliamentary elections.

Moratinos praised Yushchenko’s role in promoting democracy and pledged to make sure the September 30 snap poll is held in a fair and transparent manner. Yushchenko said Ukraine was interested in developing ties with Spain and suggested signing a bilateral agreement on labor migration. The foreign minister said Spain was going to invest in the Ukrainian economy, particularly in the country’s Euro 2012 projects, and invited Yushchenko to visit Spain.

The President then thanked Spain’s parliament for condemning the Great Famine of 1932-1933.
