Germany considers the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine should not become a reason for the date of Ukraine-EU summit transmission. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Ukraine Reinhard Schäfers said at a press conference on Wednesday in Kyiv.
“There are many opinions whether it is necessary to hold the summit or not, as Ukraine will be in full swing of election campaign struggle. I always recommend to participate in such meetings in spite of elections are holding or not,” Schäfers said.
According to him, though the content of the Ukraine-EU summit, planned on September 14, “does not have such questions, which can change the world”, we shouldn’t cancel that meeting. “I think it is very important to hold meetings at the high level even once a year, in order we can change our points of view,” he added.
Besides, Schäfers considers the summit holding can become a signal for Ukraine that “Ukraine lives a normal life”, “UNIAN” reports.
