The vice-President of the European Parliament Marek Sivec calls 2020 a real date of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, but at the same time considers that this term can be reduced. He told on Monday the Ukrainian BBC service.

“I asked International observers to form positive scenario for Ukraine and they called this date that is quite successful. But nobody liked it… Somebody began to consider this date real. So do I,” he said.

At the same time he opined that this term may be less. “Taking into consideration my experience I see that process of Euro integration sometimes becomes political. “We can change conditions of extension and Ukraine should be ready for this,” Sivec noted.

The vice-President of the European Parliament does not agree with some statements of Russian politicians that Ukraine after accedence to NATO will be used by the Alliance as political tool for pressure on Russia. NATO has never used any country for pressure on Russia. Russia is a partner of NATO,” Sivec said.
