During the presidency of Portugal in the European Union that has been started on July 1, Ukraine will emphasize on negotiations concerning a new intensified agreement between Ukraine and the EU and will put a question on social protection of Ukrainian citizens, working in the EU countries. Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk told journalist during his working visit to Serbia.
The Minister said that Ukraine has given to Portugal its vision of reciprocal cooperation with the EU and will highly appreciate Portugal participation in Ukrainian interest promotion on the EU arena.
Yatsenyuk said that according to the different ratings, about 50 thousand of Ukrainians are working in Portugal nowadays and that’s why “Ukrainian interest is present there”.
As the Minister said, Ukraine hopes Portugal will assist in some problems solutions, existing in the EU. “Germany at the end of its presidency solved the problem of frozen negotiations about the European Constitution. If Portugal makes the same contribution, as Germany, that will be remarkable,” he added.
