Prime Minister of Ukraine is for introduction of the open regional lists at the People’s deputies’ elections. He stated on Saturday: “I’m assured that the principle of proportionality, which is based today on the closed party listed, must be filled with economic content”.
According to him, the Ukrainian version of elections, based on the principle of proportionality, led to two negative consequences – discredit of the principle of proportionality and to some people rights breach, as well as the territorial communities’ rights breach.
“Obviously, by making changes to the electoral legislation, Ukraine should turn to the mixed models or to use the open regional lists, which enables electors to vote for the concrete candidate, but not only for the list,” the PM considers.
