According to the President’s press service, on June 21 President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko signed a decree on remission of 71 convicts.
Among the convicts there are 12 women and 59 men. Three of them are elderly men, one is a disable, three are victims of the Chornobyl’s disaster, five are from numerous families and 45 others.
At the same time, the President supported 152 petitions of the citizens and the People’s deputies, “UNIAN” informs.
From the beginning of 2007 the President of Ukraine signed six decrees on remission of 520 persons. A sentence upon 345 of them was reduced, 175 convicts were released from the prime or additional punishments.
