Today President Viktor Yushchenko held meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and Volodymyr Shapoval, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, according to president's press office.
Yushchenko said he was worried about recent developments in the Central Election Commission and insisted that political forces must not make pressure on its members. The President said he had invited Yanukovych and Shapoval to the Secretariat for talks to speak about necessary conditions for organizing and holding early parliamentary elections.
Yushchenko hopes the Prime Minister’s constructive position will help to resolve the problem and ensure that the Central Election Commission, whose five members have been nominated by Yanukovych’s Regions Party, works effectively.
