The Ministry of Interior Affairs intends to draw up a program to ensure public security during the European Football Championship in 2012.
Acting Interior Minister Mykhailo Kornienko told this at a press conference in Vinnytsya.
According to him, the Ministry of Interior Affairs has begun to work out such complex program. “It is a very difficult process, we need to change the concept of public safety guarding, transport security rules, security rules at stadiums and in places of guests and funs settling,” Kornienko noted.
Kornienko emphasized the importance of actions on security rules improvement at stadiums from the side of football matches organizers. “This is first of all the formation of the own security service at stadiums, as it is in the civilized countries. We have been proposing that for almost 15 years, but nothing has changed,” he told.
At the same time, the acting Minister supposes Ukraine should follow the world extensive experience in the sphere of football matches security. “It is quite possible to implement that by the European Championship, because the Ukrainian Football Federation understands this problem,” Kornienko added.
