President Viktor Yushchenko on Monday sent a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych to express his concerns about 25% cuts in spending on the transmission of programs by the National Radio Company according to President's press office.

Yushchenko said it had made the Radio Company suspend its medium wave broadcasts in some regions of Ukraine, particularly the country’s border and mountainous areas as well as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, according to the numerous complaints by regional administrations, public organizations and radio listeners.

Yushchenko believes the situation will lead to the redistribution of Ukraine’s radio frequencies, might result in the loss of the country’s radio frequency resource and impede the introduction of digital radio technologies.

The President asked the PM to take measures to resolve the issue.
