In an interview with Canada’s The Globe and Mail on Monday, President Victor Yushchenko talked about Ukraine’s political crisis, economy and foreign policy, particularly its relationship with Russia and bid to join the European Union and NATO, President's press office reported.

Speaking about the crisis, Yushchenko said: “The most important thing is that Ukrainian politicians have resolved quite an acute crisis through democratic means.” He added it was vital for the country’s democratic forces to unite and have effective dialogue.

The president also said Ukraine'ssecurity policies were “inseparably linked to the formation of the Euro-Atlantic model of collective security.”
