
The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has signed decree on early parliamentary elections on September 30, 2007, according to the president’s press office.
Yushchenko signed decree on the basis of the joint statement of the President, PM and VRU Speaker concerning resolution of the political crisis in Ukraine and taking into consideration decision of OU and BYuT factions to resign that contributed to the VRU illegitimacy.
According to the decree, the CEC should provide preparation and holding of the early parlaimenatry elections within 60 days before September 30. Thus, the election campaign should start on July 30. Cabinet is charged to provide financing of the elrly elections. The decree comes into force since the day of its publicizing.
The President also cancelled his previous decrees on early parliamentary elections of April 26, June 24, and decrees of May 29, 31 and June 1 on suspension of his decrees to allow VRU adopt necessary laws for elections.
