The “Memorial” society named after Vasyl Stus has opened the “Museum of Soviet occupation” on 6 Stelmah str., Kyiv.

The decision on that was made at the Kyiv’s regional society department conference on May 26, 2007.

The exposition “Beyond the oblivion: the chronic of communist inquisition of the years 1917-1991” forms the museum basis.

The expositions “Ukranian Solovky”, “Kyiv’s passional (Kyiv’s memorial destroyed by the communists)”, “Holodomor in documentary photos”.

The exposition “National war”, dedicated to peasant-cossack rebellions, is being developed.

The museum is opened from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. except for Sunday. The admission is free in June. “The museum works on a voluntary basis”, as it is said on the “Memorial” site.

At the same time, information about museum creation has been met doubtfully in Ukraine, as “the 5th channel” informed.

“The museum’s staff complains of threats directing against them. The hacker attack has been already made on the “Memorial’ site. At the same time, people say this exposition opens quite a number of “blank spots” in the Soviet history, “the 5th channel” notes.
