European Day in Kyiv

On June 2, at 6 p.m. an official opening of the European Day in Kyiv will take place. Ien Boag, the Head of the European Commission representatives, has informed that today at the MFA briefing. He said that at 6 p.m. Foreign Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk will make a speech. All the ambassadors of the EU will be present at the stage. Congratulation address of EC President Barroso on the occasion of European Day also will be broadcast.

Ien Boag has reported that the European Day holding coincides with 50^th anniversary of the EU establishment.

In the European town 50 pavilions, 2 schools of European languages, where it will be proposed to learn 23 EU languages, will function. Two debate pavilions will be opened: one for political topics discussion, another – for economic topics. Ien Boag has informed that the 45 orators are invited, among which ambassadors, politician scientists, and others.

Football matches are planned to be hold, where diplomats, ministers, journalists, and all those who wish could participate. An exhibition, dedicated to 50^th anniversary of the EU establishment, will be opened. Students, who wish to study in the EU countries, will be able to get all information in the pavilions of the EU countries. At 7 p.m. a big concert on the Independent Square will start, in which German, Lithuanian, Ukrainian musicians will participate.

A grand closing of the European Day will be at 10 p.m.
