Ukraine's President Victor Yushchenko and Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the European Union and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, spoke by phone on Friday to discuss recent political developments in Ukraine, president's press office informs.

Yushchenko said he was worried there were attempts to revise his political agreement with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych to hold early parliamentary elections.

They both agreed Ukraine was capable of handling its crisis in a mature way and should conduct the snap poll as soon as possible to preserve economic stability.
