Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko left for Poland with one-day visit. He is accompanied by the Foreign Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, the Deputy Prime Minister Andry Klyuyev, the Ukrtransnafta Chairman of the Board Igor Kiryushyn and the Deputy Secretariat Chief of Staff Olexander Chaly. The President is expected to participate in an informal energy summit.

The talks will involve Lech Kaczynski of Poland, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania and Kazakhstan’s energy and mineral resources minister, Baktykozha Izmukhambetov, and are expected to focus on ways to balance the Energy Charter with the interests of energy producers, transporters and consumers.

Viktor Yushchenko will also hold a meeting with the leaders of the GUAM states to discuss preparations for a June summit of this organization in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku.
