Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs Arseniy Yatsenyuk predicts that an agreement on simplification of the visa regime between Ukraine and the EU will be signed by June 18. He aired his forecast by way of speaking to students of the Institute of International Relations of the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University. "I guarantee that by 2007 end the agreement will not only be signed but will also take effect," the minister said, Cabinet press office reported.

Talking about relations with the EU, Mr Yatsenyuk stressed that, unfortunately, one should not expect Ukraine's soon membership in the EU. In his opinion, "adequate terms refer to decades." As he stressed, one cannot "cry out to be accepted, but should be invited, which fact demands lots of home work."

By way of answering questions of students about relations with Russia, Mr Yatsenyuk noted that Russia needs Ukraine as much as Ukraine needs Russia. "We can have only mutually profitable relations," he said.

Concerning relations with the United States of America, the Foreign Minister expressed his hopes that his visit to the USA, slated for April 30 - April 1, will give a new impetus to Ukrainian-American dialogue, as he said a road map of Ukraine - USA relations is supposed to be signed.
