Culture and Tourism Minister Yuriy Bohutskyi and Chief of the Federal Culture and Cinema Agency Mikhail Shvydkoi have signed a 2007 to 2009 action plan, according to Cabinet press office.

The plan provides for formation of a working group to gear up and hold cultural events in Ukraine, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Russian film producer Aleksandr Khazhinkov and the 200th anniversary of notorious Russian-Ukrainian writer Mykola Gogol and the 150th anniversary of birth of famous Russian writer Anton Chekhov, who was born in Yalta.

The Culture and Tourism Ministry will promote participation of Russian artists in a festival to commemorate pianist Sviatoslav Richter in Zhytomyr, International Festival "Bosporski Agony", youth festival "Drevliany Sources" in Rivne and "Planet Stars" in Yalta.

In turn, the Russian party pledges to assist participation of Ukrainian artists in the Days of Slavonic Culture and Folk Festivals.

The parties also spoke in favor of promotion of cooperation among libraries, theatres, museums to initiate exhibitions, conferences and seminars in Russia and Ukraine.
