Rene van der Linden declares objectivity of PACE in consideration of political situation in Ukraine and necessity of peaceful settlement of crisis

A current political crisis in Ukraine should be settled peacefully, PACE President Rene Van der Linden said after a meeting with Speaker Oleksandr Moroz before consideration of the crisis in Ukraine at a plenary sitting, Cabinet press office reported.

The PACE President approved Oleksandr Moroz's bid to participate in debates on Ukraine.

The PACE will display liabilities to assist member-states in case they face internal problems, Rene van der Linden said, noting that the PACE won't back any of the parties in the conflict and will aid searching for a compromise through negotiations and a dialogue.

He also noted that the PACE aims at assertion of European values and advocates friendly relations among neighboring countries.

We have only one Ukraine. In the interests of Ukraine the conflict should be adjusted peacefully. Politicians should serve the nation and should create conditions for stability. We should keep to this and have friendly relations with all members of the PACE, Rene van der Linden said.
