An early parliamentary election is the only way to preserve law and order in the country,Victor Yushchenko told at press conference on Thursday, president's press office reported.
The President said the snap poll would also make Ukrainian lawmakers appreciate their responsibility for the voters and “bridge electoral differences in society.” He reiterated he would not rescind his decree disbanding parliament and insisted that it was binding. Yushchenko said the situation in the country was under control. He added that Ukraine “is walking a democratic path.”
“The only question on this path is how to find a democratic response to political challenges,” he said.
The Ukrainian leader praised the nation for demonstrating its European nature and tolerance despite political differences.
