Victor Yushchenko has met with leaders of Ukraine’s opposition, Vyacheslav Kyrylenko (Our Ukraine), Yuriy Lutsenko (People’s Self-Defense) and Yulia Tymoshenko (BYuT), president’s press office reported.

Speaking about how to resolve the political crisis, the President said he was worried that the country’s judicial system and especially the Constitutional Court of Ukraine “are extremely politicized.”

“Its politicization is so profound that it may discredit its work,” he said.

Yushchenko said recent rulings by local courts to ban an earlyelection showed that certain political leaders “wish to block the legal process or distort it.” He described the decisions by the district courts in Feodosiya and Artemivsk as “doubtful” and insistedthey “had no lawful right” to consider the legality of his decree to dissolve parliament.

“However, they didit consciously, impudentlyand demonstratively to show they can discredit the President in such a way,” he said.

The democratic leaders revealed their plans to hold rallies and public debates aimed at supporting the dissolution order as well as the Constitutional Court. Kyrylenko also informed him about results of today’s meeting of the political council of the pro-presidential Our Ukraine party.
