Ukraine is likely to see deficiency of labor force, Labor and Social Policy Minister Mykhaylo Papiyev told journalists. According to him, this resulted from a gap between vacancies demands and propositions and low wages, “Cabinet press office” informs.

Mykhaylo Papiyev noted the government should search for methods to attract Ukrainians, working abroad to come back to Ukraine. This, however, should be considered by the government, as well as by trade unions and employers, the Labor and Social policy Minister said.

In turn, Director of the State Service of Employment Volodymyr Halytskyi stressed that the labor force deficiency is being observed in the economic sectors. Ukraine lacks in skilled turners, milling-machine operators, shop assistants and gas-arc-welders.

He noted the offered openings are not in a demand in view of low salaries. According to him, as may as 59% of 2 million vacancies, offered by job centers, suggest monthly salaries of under 500 UAH, while only 5% of them suggest monthly wages of over 1,500 USD.
