The Ukraine’s Government adheres to the position that law enforcement bodies should work only within Ukrainian legislation and be independent from political preferences. Yanukovych told today in Kyiv at the press conference, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
Yanukovych assured that the governing coalition does not interfere into the personnel policy of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine. “I demand that the ministry will be formed not according to the political preferences,” the PM said.
Speaking about the General Prosecutor’s Office, he noted that neither President, the Government, nor the Parliament will interfere in work of this institution. “We do not have such authorities. None of branch of power has such authorities,” Yanukovych noted, adding that he will demand the General Prosecutor’s Office to work within the Ukrainian legislation.
The PM promised that the General Prosecutor will always report to the parliament.
“I will never allow to put pressure on the Interior Ministry or General Prosecutor’s Office,” Yanukovych noted.
