The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a resolution on situation around deployment of US anti-missile defense systems, ForUm’s correspondent reported. 243 deputies voted for the resolution.

The first vice-speaker Adam Martynyuk voiced the resolution, which says that the parliament takes into account that the decision to place US anti-missile defense systems in Poland and Czech Republic caused mass indignation of the population in these countries and negative reaction of Russia.

“In this situation any statements on Ukraine’s possible joining the American plans as regards anti-missile defense systems do not meet national interests,” he cited the resolution.

According to Martynyuk, the VR considers that creation of common European system of collective security would better fit national interests of Ukraine. He noted that the parliament charged the Cabinet to inform UN security council and governments of interested states.
