Ukrainians in the UK have initiated collecting signatures to demand from British Prime Minister Tony Blair to recognize the 1932 to 1933 Famine in Ukraine as a genocide against the Ukrainian nation, “Cabinet press office” reported.
The initiators also requested the British Parliament to reassert and investigate the famine.
West Europe was familiar with the event, but pretended to notice nothing. The big mistake should be corrected in order for justice to rule.
The history of Ukraine is also the history of Europe, thus, the Ukrainians, residing in Great Britain requested the British Government to support the UN resolution on recognition of the famine as the genocide. The event will last through February 15, 2008.
The 1932 -1933 famine in Ukraine resulted in a death toll of 7 to 10 millions.
The famine was officially recognized in Australia, Hungary, Vatican, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Argentina, Canada, Poland and USA.
