SPU member Yevhen Filindash considers it’s totally ludicrous to introduce criminal responsibility for public denial of genocide, Holodomor and Holocaust.

“May be it not very nice to say, but I think this idea is total nonsense,” he told in an interview to Forum’s correspondent.

He underlined that people have different opinions as regards recognition of Holodomor of the years1932-33 as genocide. “May be some opinions do not coincide with positions of the President and deputies, who voted for such definition. But it does not mean that people cannot express their opinions, because possibility to voice one’s opinion freely is one of the basic features of democracy,” Filindash noted.

The deputy declared that would never support a draft bill on criminal responsibility for public denial of genocide of the years 1932-33.
