Minister of Justice of Ukraine Oleksandr Lavrynovych calls rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe Hanna Severinsen and Renata Wolwend to use checked information towards Ukraine. He told Monday at a meeting with the PACE rapporteurs, which was held within the frame of evaluative visit to Ukraine.

The press service of the Ministry of Justice informed that during the meeting Mrs. Wolwend touched on Ukrainian  non-compliance with decisions of Europenean Court on Human Rights. The rapporteur referred  to the information which she received from a member of the permanent Parliamentary Delegation of Ukraine under the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe. However, Wolwend couldn’t show concrete examples of Ukrainian  non-compliance with decisions of Human Rights Europenean Court.

The Minister of Justice showed the PACE rapporteurs the statistics of Ukrainian observation of decisions of Europenean Court. Oleksandr Lavrynovych pointed that Ukraine fulfills the decisions of Europenean Court well. The government paid fair redress according to 159 decisions in the amount of 2,875 900 015 UAH. Besides, 5,562 589 047 UAH were paid to Europenean Court according to the National Courts.

The Minister of Justice also informed the PACE rapporteurs that Ukrainian government provides special law on observation of Europenean Court decisions. Taking into account this law, the Minister said, corresponding amendments were introduced into the national legislation about observation of court decisions.

In this context Oleksandr Lavrynovych was surprised with the appearance of this question. The Minister pointed that the use of inaccurate and unchecked information “creates needless problems and misunderstandings.”

The Minister of Justice also regretted that there are certain Ukrainian politicians, who try to use international institutions as an instrument for their own political competition.
