Victor Yushchenko’s exclusive interview with the Associated Press on Wednesday focused on home and foreign issues, President’s press office informs.

The President said Ukraine’s leading political forces must unite to protect national interests, which he described as “the only right path to stability.”

The government and its head, he said, must be the country’s stabilizing factor.

“I am certainlydisappointed that Viktor Yanukovych has not fulfilled any clauseof the [ National Unity ] Pact. I am convinced the Prime Minister is the first person who needs this document. However, if his point of view is different, I can only feel sorry,” he said.

Yushchenko said it was “very dangerous” for the head of the government, who is in charge of the country's social and economic development,to “play political games.”

“One has to work sometimes,” he said.
