During negotiations into delimitation of the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea and the Kerch Strait delegations of Ukraine and Russia have approached their positions on the issue of the line of state border in the Sea of Azov, “Cabinet press office” informs.

Chief of the Ukrainian delegation, Roving Ambassador Viktor Kirik noted that the 26th round of negotiations was productive and successful and the parties have created good grounds to tackle the issue more specifically during the next round of negotiations in Moscow.

Russian delegation head, Roving Ambassador Valeriy Kenyaikin said the parties had neared their positions on determination of the borderline in northern and southern sections of the Sea of Azov. The parties have also agreed to create a joint working group and charge it to complete drafting the text of a consolidated draft agreement between Ukraine and Russia on the Ukrainian - Russian state borderline in the Sea of Azov by end of April.

On March 26, 2007 the parties have agreed to exchange coordinates of initial points with referring to cartographic materials, which are used for calculation of the middle line.
