
On his return from Donetsk to Kyiv Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych visited the National Institute of Cardio-Vascular Surgery named after M.M. Amosov. The Head of Government acquainted himself with work of one of the most well-known medical centers of Ukraine and met with its personnel. This meeting was held at the physicians’ desire, “Cabinet press office” informed.
Viktor Yanukovych exchanged opinions with the workers of the Institute on problem solving posed today for the medical sphere. Particularly, the matter concerned creation of an efficient system for preventing and treating cardio-vascular diseases. According to the Prime Minister, implementation of measures provided by the State Program on Preventing and Treating Cardio-Vascular and Cardio-Cerebral Diseases for 2006-2010 will promote this problem solving. The 2007 State Budget provides for implementation of the program above 75 million UAH.
“Domestic medicine has significant potential and the task of the state to create necessary conditions for revealing its maximum potential”, the PM stressed. Viktor Yanukovych noted that one of the basic directions of the Strategy of Economic Development of Ukraine drafted by the Government will be reformation of the system of health protection. “High standards of medical services – that is the aim we set as an object while reforming the system of health protection, the Prime Minister underscored.
According to the results of the visit of the Amosov National Institute the Head of Government has given a series of commissions. In particular – to improve material and technical basis of the Institute, to purchase necessary equipment and inventory, to provide for up-to-date medical technologies, to improve working conditions for the physicians and hospital stay of patients.
