Ukraine doesn't negotiate into changing the operator of imported gas supplier, Vice Prime Minister for fuel and energy complex Andriy Klyuyev said, by way of commenting on information in the media about likely changing RosUkrEnergo for ITERA. "There are no official negotiations into the issue, so far," Klyuyev said, “Cabinet press office” reported.

On February 12 Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych met with Chairman of the Board of the ITERA Ltd Igor Makarov. During the meeting they discussed basic directions of the group's activities in Ukraine and prospects for joint projects in the energy. After that information about likely participation of ITERA in gas supply to Ukraine has appeared.

Before 2003 ITERA was the operator of transportation of Turkmen gas to Ukraine. Presently, Ukrainian companies of the group are trading with gas extracted in Ukraine in small volumes.

After the "gas war" between Ukraine and Russia in late 2005 - early 2006 a decision has been passed to pass to market relations in settlements for Russian gas. As a result of the negotiations, the only supplier of all imported gas to Ukraine has become RosUkrEnergo.

On October 24, 2006 RosUkrEnergo and UkrGazEnergo signed a supplement to the agreement of purchase and sale of natural gas of February 2, 2006 for 2006 - 2010. In compliance with the agreement, the resource base of the Central Asian gas supply to Ukraine has been set in 2007 - 2009 in the amount of 55 billion cu. m. annually, which totally satisfies the needs of the Ukrainian economy in imported gas. In 2007 the gas supply price is 130 USD per 1,000 cu. m.
