On Tuesday the Verkhovna Rada holds the day of the government “On fulfillment of Ukraine’s legislation concerning social policy and legal protection of war veterans.

Speaking in the parliament, the Minister of labour and social policy Mikhailo Papiyev reminded that 2.9 million veterans live in Ukraine, 2.68 thousands of who are disabled veterans.

The Minister informed that “rise to pensions has been increased four times since January 1, 2007.” “More than half a million of veterans, whose labour and service were marked with state awards, will receive pensions for special services,” he added.

Papiyev noted that all disabled veterans and participants of operations would have additional state financial aid monthly.

The Minister also informed that 47 ths telephones were set up for war veterans last year. Papiyev added that local self-governments initiated an issue to give some veterans cell phones, as there are areas, where it is very complicated to set landline phones.

According to the Minister, local self-governments also allocate means to pay cell phones’ bills – every veteran can speak one hour free monthly.
