Victor Yushchenko has met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in Munich to speak about how to develop Ukraine’s ties with the United States, president's press office reproted.
The President said our country appreciated America’s support and assistance in many important areas, including joining the World Trade Organization, achieving energy security, fighting corruption and introducing defense and healthcare reforms.
Ukraine is interested in taking part in educational and training programs in NATO countries, he added.
Yushchenko praised a recently signed cooperation agreement between Ukraine’s Health Ministry and the U.S. Department of Defense designed to minimize biological threats, particularly bird flu.
