In an exclusive interview with Germany’s N-TV television channel, Victor Yushchenko has expressed hopes Ukraine will be a full member of the European Union one day, President press office informed.

“I believe it will. I am sure it will,” he said.

The President said Ukraine was now building pragmatic relations with the European Union.He added that we wanted to make it clear that the integration of our country'sgas transport system into the European market could help achieve continental stability.

Mr. Yushchenko said energy projects would be successful if energy producers, transporters and consumers worked together and neither of them imposedtheir will on the partners.

“We are learning to understand we are tied becauseenergy cooperation implies group responsibility,” he said.

Victor Yushchenko has left the German capital, Berlin.

He is scheduled to meet with Bavaria’s Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber and lunch with Bavarian Interior Minister Gunther Beckstein on February 9 in Munich.

On Saturday,the President will attend the 43rd Munich Conference on Security Policy. He is expected to hold talkswith NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
