The Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych told the journalist that during today’s meeting with the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko and the speaker of the Parliament Olexander Moroz the question on Ukraine’s participation in gas recovery in Russian Federation was discussed, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.

“Now we will stand for Ukraine’s position. Certainly this question is very prospective in relations with Russia. Initiative of the President at the session of the Intergovernmental committee “Yushchenko-Putin” should be realized. We discussed real practical steps towards this direction,” the Head of the Government said.

Speaking about question on creation of gas transport consortium on management and development of gas transport system of Ukraine, Yanukovych noted: “Today the matter can only concerns the construction of part “Bogorodchany-Uzhgorod” that we can build on our own. Or we can unite efforts with our partners. The best way to do it we will discuss in the near future.”

According to him, Ukraine is interested to “to move ahead” in relations with Russia. “It is a question of strategy of energetic security of our country. It is our strategic partner. We would like to have more trust to each other, and to work out such projects that will be favorable both for Ukraine and Russia,” the PM noted.

Answering the journalists question concerning BYuT proposal to forbid legislative transfer the gas transport system to other State (Russia in particular), Yanukovych said: “When we are ready to approve strategy of energetic security of our country, we will discuss this question in the Parliament openly and transparently.”
