The Ukrainian government offers to hold negotiations on concluding a new enhanced agreement on cooperation with the European Union not later than in first quarter of 2007, Economy Minister Volodymyr Makukha said at opening of the ninth session of the Ukraine - EU cooperation committee, “Cabinet press office” reported.

As he said, Ukraine is ready to launch negotiations on creating a free trade area with the EU not connecting the issue with Ukraine's accession to the WTO.

The Minister said that implementation of the Ukraine - EU Action Plan in 2006 was accompanied with high democratic process paces and economic growth. The Ukrainian government with its concrete moves confirmed the course of Ukraine toward European integration, Makukha said.

The agenda of the ninth session of the Ukraine - EU cooperation committee includes different aspects of integration processes, in particular, the political dialogue and reform, economic and social development, trade, justice, freedom and security.

The EU delegation to the talks is led by Director of the Directorate General for External Relations of the European Commission Hugues Mingarelli.
