According to Deputy Minister of Defense Volodymyr Tereschenko, the Ministry of Defense keeps on insisting on the "Ukraine" missile cruiser sale. As he supposes, the Naval Forces of Ukraine do not have and will not have any tasks to be performed by the cruiser of such a class, “Cabinet press office” reported.
The State company "UkrSpetsExport" is engaged in searching a purchaser , but the "Ukraine" sale is complicated by the fact that there is lack of some arms systems on the cruiser, and those equipped are out of date.
In August 2005 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine charged the State company "UkrSpetsExport" and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industrial Policy with market research to be carried out aimed at the identifying of the "Ukraine" missile cruiser potential purchasers and provide the Ministry of Defense with a proposal on its realization.
The Government also commissioned the Ministry of Defense to register the "Ukraine" missile cruiser as the property of the Armed Forces and provide its maintenance within the funds insured in the state budget for the appropriate year aimed at the Armed Forces functioning.
In January 2006 Minister of Defense Anatoliy Hrytsenko stated that if the "Ukraine" missile cruiser would not be sold, then it may be utilized later.
