Ukraine intends to discuss with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia an opportunity to combine efforts for creating the oil transit consortium to Europe through the territory of Ukraine, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych stated, Cabinet press office reported.

“We will discuss this opportunity with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia in which way this consortium could be created and interested in oil transportation through the territory of Ukraine to Europe”, Viktor Yanukovych told in an interview in Davos (Switzerland).

The Head of Government noted that during his meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos they had discussed implementation of agreements reached during the Ukrainian Prime Minister’s visit to Azerbaijan.

Viktor Yanukovych said that after oil pumping of the Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan pipeline Azerbaijan would be interested in new markets.

According to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, one of the possible transit ways of the Azerbaijan oil transportation is the Odesa-Brody pipeline. And now there are a number of variants, in particular, oil tanker transportation from Supsy (Georgia) to Odesa or oil pipeline building at the bottom of the Black Sea to Odesa.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stressed that Russia, Kazakhstan and Shell Company are also interested in oil transportation ways.

At the plenary session of the World Economic Forum: Energy 2007: new era of oil policy” the Head of Government expressed his point of view concerning Ukraine’s participation in oil extraction and transportation. The conference considers the world oil market and Ukraine’s position in it.
