Press office of SBU reported that the unique equipment – gas chromatograph mass-spectrometer – was given Ukraine in the scope of BUMAD (Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova – against drugs) international program, financed by the European Union. The equipment at the const of 75 ths dollars was given free of charge.
Berngard Bogensperger, EC attaché on border control, terrorism and organized crime affairs, noted that the equipment will help SBU to further integrate into international organization, which fights against international drug business and to use common data base in accordance with European standards.
According to the press centre of SBU, modern gas chromatograph mass-spectrometer will be used by the scientific-technical department of SBU for investigations of chemical structure of drugs. This device will allow improving monitoring of methods of illegal drugs production, psychotropic substances in illegal narcological laboratories, to determine groups, kinds and origin of such substances, to identify them to a concrete party or delivery and to carry out special investigations for discover new synthetic drugs.
