President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko will sign in a day or day amendments to a number of privatization laws, increasing the number of object offered for privatization, including national communication service Ukrtelecom and Odesa chemical port plant (OPZ). Oleksandr Shlapak, head of social and economic development service of Secretariat of President told Thursday.

Shlapak reminded that these enterprises were offered for sale at President’s urgent request. According to Yushchenko, further successful development of these enterprises depends on coming of strategic investor

State budget for 2007 provides for privatization takings in the amount of 10.5 milliard UAH. According to experts, it would be impossible to fulfill the privatization plan without sale of such attractive objects as Ukrtelecom or OPZ.

Valentyna Semenyuk, head of the State Property Fund, reported plans to keep 50% + 1 stock of Ukrtelecom and OPZ in state property, and to sell the rest on stock exchanges, including international ones, but starting the sale with a proposal of 10% stock on Ukrainian stock exchanges.
