The meeting was organized by the Permanent representatives of Ukraine in Council of Europe and was held on initiative of Permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the scope of PACE work.
Participants exchanged opinions concerning strengthening of the role and place of GUAM on the political map of Europe. In particular, the heads of the permanent delegations discussed intensified cooperation and coordination of efforts in realization of goals and organizational tasks during the Assembly work. They also agreed to hold such meetings regularly.
The head of the permanent delegation of the VR to PACE Vitaly Shubko opined that “GUAM is an organization which must develop in all directions, and it is expedient to hold such meetings at the level of parliamentary delegations.”
He noted that all four countries-members of GUAM have common issues for consideration in the scope of PACE work, and some of these issues must be upheld to protect our common interests.
