The Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych met with the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka, “Cabinet press office” informs..

The meeting concerned preparation of the Ukrainian sportsmen for the Olympic, Para-Olympic and Deafolympic Games.

Serhiy Bubka expressed his gratitude to the Government for supporting the development of physical culture and sport. According to him, in 2007 the sports financing has been increased by 50% as compared with the previous year.

In his turn, the Head of Ukrainian Government noted that the National Olympic Committee sets a task to prepare Ukrainian sportsmen for the Olympic Games and he can rely on the Government’s support.

Viktor Yanukovych and Serhiy Bubka have discussed in detail measures on providing proper conditions for preparation of sportsmen for the Olympic Games. In particular, repair of sport lodges, inventory purchase, building sport center networks for children and youth.

During the meeting Viktor Yanukovych and Serhiy Bubka exchanged their opinions on social provision of sportsmen and increase of grants for prize-winners and winners of the Olympic Games.

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka informed the Prime Minister that the next sitting of the Organizational Committee concerning preparation and participation of the Ukrainian sportsmen in the Olympic Games is slated for February 2, 2007 with the assistance of the Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee Juan Antonia Samaranch.
