The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko is convinced that the Constitutional court will support position concerning legal further being in office of the Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk. He told today during press conference in Donetsk.
Yushchenko noted that majority of legislative institutions inclines to opinion that the President in accordance with the Constitution implements foreign policy of the state should submit both appointment and dismissal of the Foreign Minister. Yushchenko reminded that he addressed to the Constitutional Court on this case.
According to him, nowadays Tarasyuk continues to fulfill his duties. “All other steps are aimed at destabilization of the situation,” the President noted.
Yushchenko also stressed that his position as to Tarasyuk is unchanged.
Moreover the President totally disagrees with opinion on illegality of his statements about Euro Atlantic integration of Ukraine. He reminded that the law “On national security and defense” foresees direct membership of Ukraine in the European Union and NATO. On the basis of this law the President fulfills foreign policy of the country. There is no other document in the country. And I as the President follows only legal basis,” Yushchenko emphasized.
